Biographical note

William Ellingson was born March 29, 1933. After active duty in the Air Force, he earned a BFA degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1960 and an MFA in printmaking from the University of Iowa in 1963. He had additional education from the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and the University of Minnesota. Ellingson was a professor in the Department of Art at St. Cloud State University since 1963, teaching printmaking. His prints were exhibited in international exhibitions and selected for the "Arts in Embassies" program sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of State. He had numerous one-person shows and participated in countless competitions. His art is in permanent collections such as the University of Iowa, Nelson Gallery (Kansas City) and the Mayo Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota. Ellingson died in 1994.
